I tried the first couple of years we were married but he had to clean them out and make sure none of the stringy-slimey stuff was still in the pumpkin. I didn't think it was that big at the farmer's market, but carrying it to the front porch, I think I almost hurt my back and standing next to it, the top is above my knees... I wanted to carve it just for the heck of it.
