A Day To Play!

I am off work today for President's Day, but still got up at 5:00 a.m.! Lots to do today.

The shower yesterday that Chris's family had for him and Tresa was very nice. Good food, cute decorations and they got so many wonderful gifts. I gave her the necklace I made for her to wear at the wedding (per her request) and she loves it. We do have one "little" concern though and that is the fact that I make it with copper because she said she liked the antique look, not thinking that the shoes she bought are gold! We spent a lot of time discussing it and decided that she will try everything on for her fitting Saturday and see how it looks. She said that you can't even see her shoes, but I think she is just trying to be nice and not hurt my feelings. I will not be hurt if she can't wear it, but upset that I didn't even give her shoes a thought when I made it. I found the stones and they looked amazing with the copper and I went with it. Well, live and learn. I'll let you know what happens.

I got so much stuff done this weekend it was wonderful. I am making some new items for MyOtherShop and making some new cards for FourDogDay. Everything is going well and I should be listing a lot of things this week once I get them all photographed....maybe today. I made another "planter"...this one would be so cute in a kitchen. It has little food signs on it! I roughed it up so it has a well worn appearance.

I'm also playing around with wood letters. Not sure if I want to get into those or not, but I did the word LOVE using scrapbook paper. Not sure what I want to provide people with to hang them yet, but maybe I will include magnets and some poster tack and they can do what they like.

I also finished a great full size outdoor birdhouse...like my little decorative ones, but this one is waterproofed for outdoor use. Irv is going to put the eyelets on it today so I can add some rope or wire for hanging. I can't wait to get it listed! Before you know it the birds will be back and looking for new homes!

Well, that is it for today. I am waiting for the hardware store to open so I can go get some glossy, waterproof varnish for my new project! I might have those listed this week as well! I just might get to page two of listings in MyOtherShop yet!!

Enjoy your day everyone....and we will chat again soon!

It's Giveaway Time!

I am really fairly new to blogging, and I have never done a Giveaway. I thought it might be fun. It's the middle of winter, the weather here stinks and it just sounds like a cool thing to do. If it goes well, I'll do it again next month.

The prize will be a decorative wooden bird house from MyOtherShop in the color scheme of your choice....so it will be custom made for you after the drawing. Plus, you can choose any 3 photo greeting cards from my FourDogDay shop. (The birdhouse is one of the decorative ones I sell in MyOtherShop, like the photo, and for indoor use only.) Sound okay?

The Giveaway starts today and runs through February 13, 2009. The winner will be drawn and announced on Valentine's Day February 14, 2009. The rules to enter are simple.

Each day that you leave a comment on my blog, you get one entry. (One entry per day) If you would like to earn a couple of extra entries, just visit my etsy shops, FourDogDay and MyOtherShop and come back to my blog and leave a comment telling me what your favorite item is in each shop. That will earn you 2 extra entries. You need to visit both shops and pick one item from each shop to earn the 2 extra entries. You can only do that one time. Fair enough?

(Be sure to leave an e-mail address unless I can reach you through your comment link.)

The drawing will be done the old fashion way. I will put all of the entries in a "hat" and have Irv draw the winner. That way if you don't win, you can be mad at him and not me.

Wrigley is actually a pro at pulling scraps of paper out of the trash in my workshop...maybe I'll have her do the drawing....oh, maybe not...she usually eats what she pulls out so that might not work.

So, read my blog post for today, leave your comments, visit my shops, leave a comment and hopefully win a prize!

Good luck!

Sneak Peek

I got up nice and early this morning and headed straight for my workshop. I am bound and determined to get some of my new decoupage stuff listed tomorrow. That meant I had lots to do today, and I am happy to say that I did really well.

I had promised you a while ago that you would get a sneak peek at my new stuff, and if I don't do that today there will be no sneak peek because the stuff will be listed in MyOtherShop! I have a number of things done and still waiting for the finishing coat of spray. It looks like that will be tomorrow, but you can still see what they look like. So here you are!

Remember the funky little ducks I found at the resale shop? Well, Irv sanded all of them for me and I went to work. I painted the edge of the ducks and then I covered one side with one type of scrapbooking paper and the other side with a different paper. I figured that way people could turn them whichever way they want and match their decor. I worked very hard to make them look old and worn. Like I said yesterday, it is taking a lot more time to do all of this stuff than I thought. I want them to be really cool though, so it's worth it.

I love the little birdhouse. It was just an unfinished piece that I found at the craft store. It was the last one like that. I wish they had more of them. I really think they are cute. I didn't make this look old. I thought this paper was fine looking new.

The little purple flowered box doesn't have it's latch or hinges put back on yet, but I love this little box. I definitely will do more boxes. I can even line the inside with fabric once I get more comfortable doing them. I think this paper is so awesome, and this one I did give a worn look too.

The last thing is a picture frame, and this one I just started today. It still needs some sanding and more coats of goop, but you get the idea. It's my 60's look! Love the paper.

I have a feeling that a lot of these things I am making are going to have a hard time making it to my etsy shop. Everything is getting really good reviews here and I think so many of these would make super gifts for people I know. For now though, they have to go in my shop so I can get it open with a nice little assortment of products.

Still working on getting the rest of my Valentine's cards in my FourDogDay shop too. If I don't get going, Valentine's Day will be gone and I'll still be sitting here with a stack of Valentines!
