Happy Day After and etsy SALE WEEKEND!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday. We are having our Thanksgiving today, so I have a lot to get done this morning.

My dryer decided to pack it in yesterday, right in the middle of drying sheets, people blankets and dog blankets. Irv was able to mess with it each time it clunked out and get it going again, until the very last load of dog blankets. That was it...the dryer was done. The dryer is very old and we can't get a replacement part....so we will be out dryer shopping tomorrow. What a bummer! Here is what Irv and the three dogs looked like last night after a long day of cleaning and dryer repair! You can see Sparky's little head behind Maggie!

I got into trouble at this new little shop someone had recommended to me this week. First of all, I was there Wednesday morning and found this darling little vintage table that was perfect, and I mean perfect for between our two little chairs!

Then Irv and I went back in the afternoon because they had a lot of lamps that I liked. Of course, we found one, but it wasn't a resale one, it was new...but made to look old. We bought it. It's pretty funky and I'm sure the kids will look at it today and say, "WTF is that?", but I thought it was a riot! I moved the chairs so you can see the whole table with the funky lamp!

I found a dark brown couch cover. I'm not in love with it, but we decided a lighter one would just not work with the dogs. A couple of muddy paws and it will never look the same again, so we opted for the dark brown. It looks nice with the chairs and the walls, so I'm fine with it.

I hung Matt's pictures too. I just love them. I had to go a little high because there will be a table with a lamp in that corner and I didn't want them to be too hidden.

I have some work to do on the drapes. I hemmed them and after I hung them, they stretched, so now they are laying ON the floor, and 2 panels was not enough for the front window, but 4 is too many. Might have to do some cutting and sewing. We will see.

I have a BIG sale going in my etsy shop FourDogDay. Lots and lots of FREE shipping and 20% off coasters and cake stands. I had some sales yesterday so I am one happy little shop owner!

Well, I really need too scoot. The pumpkin pies are done which means I can have some for breakfast and I need to still make the apple! Have a wonderful day today and I will chat with you soon.

Super Shopping Day!

Happy Weekend!!! Chee Hoo to everyone!

I only have a few minutes this morning. It's almost 11:00 and I haven't even started sewing yet. I have been to Menards to pick wood for the shelves for the craft show booth....which is turning out AWESOME. Irv has the walls done and now we are trying to design the placement of the shelves. I'll post pictures when we get some of them in.

After Menards I went to Hancock Fabric. They are having a big sale so I thought I would see what I could find. Got some awesome denim and corduroy fabric for two new totes and a great looking fall print for another.

Here is the denim I bought. It has embroidered flowers all over it. I bought a tiny floral print to line the bag. I think this one is going to be darling!

I loved this striped fabric. It's hard to see the colors in the picture, but they are very autumn looking. I think the gold paisley will look great as a lining. This bag will have wood handles.

I thought this 60's look floral corduroy was so neat. I would love this one for myself....but like I said before...that is against the rules. Then....get this....they had all of their Simplicity patterns on sale for ONE DOLLAR EACH!!!! No, I am not kidding. I could have sat there all day! I bought 2 great apron patterns....one is a wraparound and the other is vintage look aprons! So darn cute. Then I got one for some new pillows, a really cute tote bag one, one for make up bags and then one for kitchen accessories like place mats, napkins and stuff. I will use the apron and tote bag ones now and the rest will be for when I have time....but what a HUGE SCORE!!! I would not have bought ANY right now at the regular price, but I couldn't pass this up. Normally the six I bought would have been $85.00!!! That's how good of a deal this was! I paid $6.00!!!

So, I am off to get this house picked up. Irv is over at Michael and Bern's house hooking up new appliances today so I'm on my own for the day. Hopefully I will get a lot done. Make it a super day for yourselves and I'll chat with you tomorrow!!

Christmas Cards to Remember

When my kids were little, I always let them make our Christmas cards. I had them draw a beautiful picture and then we had the cards printed on red or green cardstock. We always put their name on the back to make it an "official" card. When they got a little older, they lost interest in creating our card. That's when I started purchasing them. For a long time it was Hallmark, and then I transitioned to the cute line of cards at Target. I never thought about making my own cards...until this year. I own a card shop! There is no way I am going to the store and buying cards this year.

I mentioned in a previous blog that I had selected one of my son's beautiful mountain photos and I am making our cards. They are turning out quite nice. I scanned one to show you. It's done on white cardstock, and I chose to use black photo corners to attach the photo. The picture itself is so gorgeous, that this way people can keep the picture and even frame it if they like.

While I was making my cards, I thought about how fun it would be to send my brother and sisters a special card this year. So, I started digging through my old photographs to find ones that would be special.

My sister Karen is a few years older than me. She lives in Tennessee. I see her a couple of times a year. I found a "very posed" picture of her and me that I am going to use for her card. I will write something about sisters and friendship and love and make it very personal. I just love her pants!!

My sister Kay is a few years younger than me. She lives in South Carolina and I see her every few years. I found a cute one of the two of us dressed in our little coats and hats. I'll write something very special for her as well.

My sister Ann, or Sis as we have always called her lives in Arizona. She and my brother Jack who lives in Georgia, are a bit older than my other two sisters and me. Their dad died when they were quite young. Mom remarried and had Karen, me and Kay. There is a 10 year gap between Sis and Jack and the three of us. Do I have you totally confused yet?

Anyway, in my digging for photos to use for cards for Sis and Jack, I came across a Christmas dinner photo from the early 50's. The photo was obviously taken by my dad, since he isn't in the picture. The only other person missing from this picture is my little sister Kay, and I am guessing that my mom was pregnant with her when this was taken. The picture has three of my grandparents in it, my grandma's "boyfriend", my mom, Karen, me, Sis, Jack and my brother Bob who died in an auto accident many, many years ago. I just love this photo! I plan to write something about family in their cards. I don't get to see either of them very often, so I want to make it very special.

I think I will get the pictures ordered and start thinking about what I want to write in all of them. Christmas is about family and the love we all share for one another. It's about traditions and special memories. I wonder what special memories we will be making this year....
