Baby Shower Planning

I am starting to work on Tresa's baby shower....well one of them any way. Chris comes from a very, very large family so his mom will have a shower, we will have a shower and I'm sure Tresa's friends will have a shower. I know I still have lots of time, but I just love doing this stuff and can't wait to get going on it!

I've already started on the invitations and I found a great little bed and breakfast in a neighboring town that I think will be the perfect place for an afternoon shower. We use to have meetings there when I worked at the Chiropractic Office. It's an old Victorian Painted Lady. Here is the link. If you scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "other guest spaces", you can see some of the inside of the house.

I thought this location would be a little different and the owner is wonderful. We would have finger sandwiches, scones, jam and what she calls "dainties"....little desserts, and then of course coffee, tea and lemonade. I'm really excited.

I've been all over the Internet looking at party favors that I could make, cake ideas and other decorations. I love this kind of stuff. Tresa doesn't like games and neither do I, so I don't have to worry about that. I love this little cake from marthastewart.com. Isn't it darling? Not that I would be making it, but I'm sure some wonderful bakery could!

I will share pictures of things I make for the shower as we go. Got any great baby shower stories or ideas you would like to share? I'm all ears!

Hi Kathy, Lucky old you to have all those lovely things to plan and make, we don't have baby showers in England, people give pressy's when the baby is born but thats all, I think it is such a lovely idea. The bed and breakfast looks lovely what a great house and the inside is just as lovely. Enjoy all your planning.

Good Morning Kathy...
Your ideas for the shower are wonderful...The B&B will be a beautiful setting. My daughters gave each other showers last spring, one baby, one bridal and both decided to do it in my backyard. you can find my posts for the baby shower here http://countryworkshop.blogspot.com/2009/06/another-sundayanother-showerbaby-that.html
or go back to posts from June of 2009.
Have fun planning!

Whenever I go to a baby or bridal shower I take my camera then prepare an album of photos to give to the honoree. It's always been much appreciated. Maybe give the guests cameras and have them do the same?

I'd have the cake made too!

The B&B looks like the perfect setting for your baby shower and I love the little individual cakes. LanyardLady's suggestion of cameras for the guests is a great idea. One thing I've seen done at showers is to write the description of the gift on the back of the card that came with it rather than taking the time to write the guests' names and gift descriptions on a piece of paper.

This is right up your alley Kathy. I know you will put everything together so nicely. I like those baby block cakes. Very cute.

This is lovely! I think it's going to be fun to participate--if only from your blog! I like LanyardLady's suggestion of giving a couple of guests cameras to document the fun!

She is gorgeous. I suggest baby shower bingo. Guests fill out their bingo cards with what they think she'll open--it makes the gift opening part of the shower much more entertaining.

Not so much a baby shower idea but a crafty baby project-

Okay, I have to admit I was just typing out directions for my idea and it sounded so horrible and tacky- so let me go find a link to share instead...brb

I made a diaper wreath for them to hang on the hospital room door- it makes a cute shower decoration, they can use it at the hospital and it is cuter than just giving them a box of diapers!

Hey hey...this is shaping up to be quite awesome...I didn't see a link in the first paragraph, though (to the venue). Just a FYI.

It sounds so nice, and not to go completely OT here, but...that girl looks waaaaaaaaay too good to be a pregnant lady. :) (Don't worry. That's just envy talking!)

Great work!
