Why Moms Never Stop Worrying

I have a couple of neat things that I want to blog about, but right now I have things I have to do for the show. So, today I am going to show you this awesome picture.....

This is a mountain out in Colorado that my youngest son Matt and his friends are hoping to snowboard down this weekend if the weather permits! He insists that the photo makes it look much worse than it really is.

All I can say is......yeah, right!

It's Showtime.....Almost

I am really busy getting ready for the show, but I wanted to share a couple of pictures with you. These are some of the fabric wall and desk clocks I made for the show. I'm curious to see if they sell at the craft show. Might not be the right venue for them, but we'll see. You can see the skull and rose ones. Sorry for the awful pictures, but as you can see, I was shooting right by a sunny window!

This is one of my favorite spring fabrics so far. All of the little bumble bees and the daisies. It's just so darn cute!

I LOVE this green fabric. This clock would be a keeper if I had somewhere to put I already kept one. :)

Here are the cell phone cases I made. I just love these little guys, especially since I found out that they also fit a digital camera just right too. I'm hoping they catch some eyes at the show!

On a different note...the weather has really been quite nice this past week. I am taking advantage of every nice day and walking outside. I took this picture over the weekend. It was such a pretty day. I think it looks almost like a painting...the sky and clouds are so awesome!

I am trying to write blogs, read blogs, comment on blogs and respond to blog comments....however if you don't see me much the rest of the week...I'm here...I'm just finishing up my show preparations. Have a fantastic rest of the week.

Get out there and take a walk too. No sitting around people. Walk, walk, walk. Geez, I wouldn't make a very good drill sergeant would I?

Facebook....a Different View

Over the between pricing, inventory and packing up things for the craft show this weekend....I managed to pop on and off the computer now and then. While chatting with my sister on Facebook I noticed a status that popped up and it was the name of the town we grew up in. I went over to take a look and I was immediately transported back the my childhood.

People had already posted pictures of Fox River Grove and comments were appearing. Of course, being a woman of MANY words....I piped right in. There were discussions about the Picnic Grove (our old amusement park), the Tastee Freeze, the candy store, the burger joint, the Marina, the castle, the ski jump and so much more.

I suggested my sisters that live in TN and SC join up and it turned into a weekend of the three of us, plus another old time "Grovers" writing about their memories of this awesome little town as well. We talked about so many things from our childhood like standing in the frigid weather at the ski meets every year (my brothers jumped when they were younger) to things like my sister buying angora at the dry goods store to wrap around her boyfriend's class ring.

There were moments when the tears filled my eyes as I remembered a gentler, kinder day when kids got to be kids. When you could run and play and just never worry about anything. Parents didn't worry either. It was a different world.

People use to make fun of Fox River Grove. Yes, it was a tiny sleepy little town with few people, but to us then and to us was the greatest place in the world to spend a childhood!

Facebook is definitely a strange world in itself....with all of the games people play and hundreds of ads appearing that are soooo geared to your profile. Are you on Facebook? If you are, do you spend much time on there? Do you use a social networking site to keep in touch with family? Do you use one to reconnect with old friends? Has it had any kind of impact on you either positive or negative?I sure had fun on there this weekend. Please share your thoughts.

Wearin' Of The Green....or Not

Well it's almost here...St. Patrick's of my least favorite holidays. Oh, I enjoy the color green and the Shamrocks and even the creepy little leprechauns. What I don't like is how the holiday here in the U.S. is little more than another excuse for people to get drunk. I know there are people that probably celebrate responsibly, but all I hear is how great it is because you have an excuse to get drunk. Oh yippee!

I have read that St. Patrick's Day in Ireland is a day of spiritual renewal. Prayers are offered for missionaries world wide, businesses close and many people attend mass. If any of you are that all still true today? That does NOT sound like St. Patrick's Day around here. Why in the Windy City we even dye our river green!

At work we are having a potato bar. That will be nice. We put up some decorations in our office and those are cute. At home, I don't decorate and we won't have a special Irish meal. I feel like such a party pooper. Am I the only one out there there doesn't jump up and down and say,"Oh yeah, it's St. Patrick's Day? How about you? Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

Keepin' Busy

Just a quick hello today my friends. Yesterday I worked all day on the cell phone cases and didn't quite finish them up. So, today I need to get that done and unpack all of my things for the craft show next weekend, make sure everything is priced properly, iron aprons and totes, and then repack everything.

In addition to that, I need to get all of my normal weekend "stuff" laundry and cleaning. It will be a busy day, but the sun is suppose to shine today and for that I am grateful. That means I can get outside for a nice walk. Yesterday was the pits. Cold and raining.

So, enjoy your day today! Be sure to do something nice for yourself too. As I am packing things up, I'll try to get some photos of new things you haven't seen yet. Make it the best day ever!
