When I looked at the bird feeder a while later...the little chipmunk was gone. I figured he must have had his fill and left the way he came...by pushing up the "roof" of the feeder and crawling out.
Nope...that wasn't what happened. The little guy wasn't getting out, so Irv, being the nice guy and true animal lover that he is, and thinking he might not be able to get out, decided to help the little guy out. He didn't want to get attacked, so he used the rake handle to lift up the "roof" of the feeder so the little chipmunk could crawl out.
Instead of crawling out however, the little guy SHOT out of the feeder and flew through the air...like a flying squirrel....all the way to the sidewalk, darted under the fence and down the driveway...and we haven't seen him since.

Poor little guy...I'm sure he was relieved to get out of there.
I'm home for just overnight. I'm enjoying my wireless and a chance to catch up with my favorite blogs. It sounds like you've had a full week...would loved to be in on your mother daughter outing!
Have a great weekend. Take care ~Natalie
There comes a time when even the all-you-can-eat buffet is no longer appetizing. Irv to the rescue!
Guess the cabin fever, being cooped up like that, really got to him!
haha--he was probably fatter trying to get out than when he got in!
He must have been stuck! I wonder how long he was in there!
He probably had to go potty! LOL
They are so cute. We don't have chipmunks here, only many, many squirrels! I'm glad he was able to get out... :) Silke
