You Call That A Vacation?

Irv saw a big travel trailer in a neighbor's driveway this week. He mentioned how great it would be to vacation in one of those....just us and "the girls". He said it would be cheap because we wouldn't need a hotel. We could just go to campsites. Maybe we could go to Minnesota. It also wouldn't cost much for food, because we would be able to cook our own in the travel trailer. We wouldn't have to get anyone to watch the dogs. Wouldn't it be wonderful?

I explained that I LOVE eating at restaurants on vacation. I LOVE staying at hotels on vacation. I LOVE not having to let dogs out when I'm on vacation. I LOVE not worrying about what the dogs might be chewing up when I'm on vacation.

I really don't want to cook, or clean up or walk dogs if I'm on vacation....that wouldn't be a vacation at all. In fact, I would NEED a vacation after that vacation. :)

In all honesty, one of my dreams is to own a travel trailer...not a gigantic one, but a big enough one that I could still drive....and take a couple of months and just drive all over this wonderful country of ours. No real plan....just drive and stop wherever we want to. We could visit places we've never been, and visit our favorite places. We could stop and visit people or not visit people if we don't feel like it. Just drive and sight see. Wouldn't that be just awesome? I might even consider taking the dogs with on that kind of trip.

How about you? What kind of vacation are you dreaming of?

I've always wanted to do the same thing; get in a car and drive all over. I'm not a camper sort of girl, so I'd go for a hotel. But the idea of seeing lots of our country sounds awesome.

A camper would be great...with a driver and a chef along for the ride! JK! I'd love to drive cross-country and end my journey on the Oregon coast to dip my toesy-woesies into the Pacific!

You know both the travel trailer and the nice hotels sound great. Dream big and dream out loud, some of it is bound to come true.

I never dreamed 5 years ago, I could make a living doing what I do now, and here I am.

Although I do wish that purple iPod would hurry up and show it's face.

PS In answer to your question, we have leased a beach house at the tip of Cape May for the last 10 days in Auguust!

I know the feeling. I would love to have the time and money to just "drive" around the country and go anywhere on a whim. Change my mind along the way and head in a new direction. A plan, no plans, just go.

My ideal vacation is a quiet secluded lake. Take it easy and relax.

I would love to have a large motorhome and load up the daughters, corgis, and cats and then travel the country for a year.

We love to camp. I like sleeping in my very own bed on my very own sheets and I truly love cooking when we're camping. There's just something extra special about camping food. Not that it's any different but it sure tastes that way.

An RV trip to the west coat would be my idea of a great traveling vacation.

Sounds great!! My husband and I have taken 3 month long vacations each a few years apart. We visited every state except Alaska. Hawaii was a cruise. We loved it!!! We just drove......stayed in very inexpensive hotel/motels and once in awhile a more expensive one. Huband.....wanted to camp......we did this 1 time....carried that tent around for a month and used it once!! I agree vacation is not cooking!!

we are taking our dream vacation this fall--3 weeks in the British Isles! It's not really long enough to see everything so we've just picked a few places in each country to explore in depth. we'll be staying in hostels and traveling by train ;-)

can't wait!
