Looking for That Happy Medium....

To blog or not to blog....that is the question. I enjoy my blog....but at times, I tend to like it too much and it consumes more time than I am willing or able to give it. I've been trying to post less, but then I tend to also read less. When I read less, I miss out on what is going on with all of you, and that sucks. Then when I do blog and you comment, I want reply to your comments and that is time consuming. When I read blogs, I want to comment...and that is time consuming.

I work a full time job and commute 40 or more minutes each way. I have things to make and things to sell and customers to communicate with.

Sometimes I think I should just say bye bye to blog land all together and the thought of doing that makes me really sad. I have so many wonderful friends on here.

I turned off my e-mail notifications the other day and today when I signed into my blog..there were all of your comments and I wanted to reply to each of them. I have to turn that thing back on.

I honestly don't know what to do. I thought about writing one day a week and reading one day a week.....I guess that might work, but I'm a bit more spontaneous than that.

Any suggestions?

Do what makes you happy. I would say just keep it and post when you have time.

I would be very sad if you stopped blogging.. but you have to do what makes you happy. If you're not happy doing it, we'll be able to tell. I work a full-time job, too, and I know that blogging is really hard sometimes. Just do what works for you. :)

I agree with just do it when you feel like it. It will be hard at first because, if you are like me, you actually feel guilty when you are not posting and visiting, but you have to do what works best for you. We all know how precious time is.
I gave up a lot of my online activities because I was spending more time on the computer than what I needed to be doing. You'll find that balance. You could even try setting a timer for a set time (like 30 min) that is your blogging time for the day or week.

Like most things in life, when blogging becomes a chore it isn't fun anymore. I say just do it if, and when, it's fun.

I'll bet every blogger has gone through this pondering. And Malissa is right. Do it when you want to, don't do it when you don't want to. And don't feel guilty. Those of us who follow you will pick you back up when you start again.

I would miss you and your newsy posts but I know what you mean this is very time consuming and I never have enough time to give to all the posts but I do what I can.

why not just blog when you feel like it and don't blog when you don't? i closed my main blog and have done little blogging for several months but am now feeling like getting back to it....maybe just pick one time of the day to answer, comment, etc. and set a timer? i do that and it works great. if you can't get to all your faves just go to them the next time, etc.

Take weekends off and reply less. But don't leave!

...I was thinking though - I "talk" to you almost every night anyway - so I wouldn't miss you like the others...but if I didn't talk to you- I would really miss your blog.

I sure don't know what to tell you. I find that with working full time it is so hard to read blog posts, comment, thank those who comment on my blog etc. I don't feel like I am getting anything else done. I do think I need to make some type of plan though because stuff is not getting done around my house!!!!

I was feeling very much the same the other day, and I will pass on the advice I received from my wonderful blogging buddies and support team...BWO Blog Without Obligation. No pressure. Your writing will be better when you feel the urge rather than the burden. We are all in the same boat with blogging, visiting and commenting when we can. Some are better than others, but we are not hear to compete and compare. We are here to express, interact and support. Take a breather and write or visit when you feel it.

In the mean time...BIG HUGS!!

Hi, Kathy,
I completely understand...it's hard with a family and full time job to find time to keep up with the online community. I have started blogging less and I try to catch up on blog reading on the weekends.

I would miss you if you pulled out all together. Have a relaxing Sunday ~Natalie
