Visions of Vacation Danced In Her Head

Uncle Sam is giving us back some of our hard earned money this year. We are getting a tax refund. Chee Hoo! It isn't as much as we usually get, but it is better than nothing and even better than giving him more! I'm glad we had already decided to do a mini-vacation this year. We were thinking a long weekend would be great. Nothing too far away...just a chance to get away and relax for a few days.....by the water....somewhere. Maybe a day off here and there to just go some place and have some fun. A day at the zoo, a day by the lake, a day kayaking.....Then the rest of the money could be used to help pay for my treadmill or the computer.

Now I can start really looking around for a place. Nothing extravagant...just something where we could spend some time walking, kayaking, enjoying nature and some precious time together. I am really excited. I look forward to vacation so much. I love hopping in the car and just driving off to wherever. I don't think the "where" even matters very much...I just like the change of scene. Where I live there isn't a whole lot to look at. Sure we have our parks and conservation areas, but it isn't the same.

We also won't be staying at some darling little place on the beach. We will probably look for a nice inexpensive hotel where we can just get up, go have breakfast and head out to explore. Man, this is really giving me spring fever....visions of sun and grass and flowers and water....those of you that are still ankle deep in snow....can you feel it?

Congrats on the wonderful gift from Uncle Sam. Planning I find is just as much fun as the vacation. Do you have any idea of which way the compass will point? Have a golden weekend! xo

i am so happy that you will be able to have some extra special family time...
vacations seem to turn back the clock a bit...and freeze us in time.

no matter where you go, i hope those moments will become memories for you and your loved ones!

Lucky you! I know Uncle Sam is taking bigger chunks out of our hard-earned money this year--I've been hearing about it from friends and co-workers.

I love being able to hop in the car and go for a drive to anywhere. It's hard for us to do that these days but I'd like to be able to go see the Wildlife Refuge here this weekend!

Good for you! Getting away can make the spirit soar--or just get you out of your rut. Whatever, it's
healthy for you.

i think a lot of people forgot the announcement that they had changed withholding amounts last year so actually you're lucky to get some back! i know a lot of people who were pretty surprised this year. we usually pay anyway so we just grit our teeth and wait to see how much ;-)

have fun planning your vacation! we probably won't be taking one this year and didn't take one last year but am hoping to maybe do an overnight here and there....

Yeah - the tax Gods heard your prayers!
Even the dreaming about it can be fun.
I know it will be great -where ever you decide to spend it.
Enjoy - you deserve it Kathy!

I'm paying twice this year. Once TO the government, and once for vacation. We seem to be leaning towards the outer banks, but it still remains to be seen. Haven't decided yet.

Outdoor-active vacation will have to wait, but we've just decided to take a couple of days and go to a casino-hotel. I get a kick out of playing some of the machines, and my hubby will play low-stakes blackjack. The food is decent, the drive is scenic, and the weekday rates are very low right now.

I love traveling. We haven't done it in such a long time. Been renovating our house. Three different years we took month long vacations and it was wonderful. Your post makes me want to plan a trip this year..just don't know if we can or not...still not done with the house.
