One day on my way to work I happen to glance back beyond the tree line and I saw this huge castle like building. I assumed it was the club house of the local golf course.
On the way home, I glanced that way again, this time from the side of the building and was in awe of the size and the design.
A couple of days later, I looked at it again and realized there was no parking lot and there was no golf course.......my word....it's a HOUSE!!!
I love my house. It's a whole 1000 square feet, and I've raised 3 kids in it....we've had cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, pet mice, birds, fish and even a rabbit in this little house. I wouldn't trade it for anything.....except my log cabin on some water in Colorado! :
When I look at this stunning house...I can't help but wonder how many people live in it, how much it costs to heat and cool and the all important.....how many bathrooms it has and who on earth has to clean them?
I think I have lived in my tiny little house for so long now....37 years to be exact....that I can't even imagine myself in anything but a tiny little house.....my house makes me happy.
So, are you a big house lover or a little house lover or somewhere in between? Do you live in a little house and dream of a mansion or do you live in a mansion and dream of a cottage...or is your house everything you want it to be?

That is a monster! I like a house big enough to offer everyone privacy, but small enough to be cozy and comfortable. I love my house because it does that, and it's only 2 minutes from my office. If I could change anything I'd have a smaller yard.
I actually love castles and houses that look like castles- but I can't imagine them being cozy inside. I love cozy. My current house is 2600 square feet- as you know, I just bought a "new" old house...that one is only 1160 square feet, so it is quite a transition. It will be less to clean, though, and much more cozy!
it's so over the top. i can't help but imagine the wasted energy and resources that go into these huge homes when people in third world countries are living in hovels and huts made of trash....seems so arrogant. my home for the last 30 years has been my sweet 1140 sf house--80sf of which is unheated and is more porch than room! we love it and although it is cramped sometimes it is easier to maintain and clean, i think...;-)
I love small houses, almost cave-like spaces for sleeping and a lot of light for daytime hours. I loved the Ideabox prefab you shared a link to...
We live in a rental right now since my husband is still a student. I love it but I would like it to be more organized...I couldn't live in such a huge house--too much to clean and I don't like to spend all my time cleaning!
Holy---! I recently drove by what I thought was a church. It was a house. And I think the same things as you. I love my house and would not add another square inch. In fact, I actually hope to downsize from our 2600 someday...
I have always lived in a smaller house. It keeps things cozy, keeps the family closer, and is easier to clean, cool and heat. People with those big houses just need to impress everyone.
We built our dream home 22 years ago. We being me and B. and our 5 children. You can see a photo of it at the bottom of my blog. It is less than 2000 sq ft. But the space is very efficient with 2-1/2 baths and 4 bedrooms. It was more than I thought I would ever have and I still love it. It needs new windows and some other things from wear and tear of the 22 yrs with a lot of people coming and going. But, it is home and I love being here.
When I was a teenager I got big ideas about living in a palatial home. But I eventually realized that I like cozy better. Less to clean, less to heat or cool, etc. I need lots of light and some character, e.g., hardwood floors, nice woodwork, etc. Don't even know our sq. footage, but we have a pretty little 4-bedroom bungalow.
I live in a medium sized house and it is just right! Of course, we do not have kids...we would need a bigger place if we had kids.
It's not about size to me - it is the charm and character of the house that matters.
That house is just crazy.
I'm definitely a little house lover. I find my little trailer offers me more than enough cleaning opportunities, and eats more than enough gas to heat. When I get a house it'll probably be about the same size, only with a nicer width to length ratio.
Hey Kathy that is my house! Just kidding. Actually it looks familiar.
It doesn't matter if a home is large or small as long the one living in it is happy and safe.
I actually was talking with my love about our home the other day. I said without Kelly (dog) our home seems bigger and empty. We only use 3 rooms in the whole house, and would like to go smaller. xo
I happen to be in construction and we've built some large houses but none like that. I much prefer the smaller houses and as beautiful as some of the ones are we've built I would never want one of them. We are now developing and building smaller "green" sustainable homes, love these way more than any of the larger ones we've built.
I love my house now that we have remolded it!
I love my house. Just perfect with room to grow!
