Sent To My Room

Okay, my husband just told me to go to my room. (That would be my workshop) He told me I am rude and that even the dogs don't want to sit by me right now. What would drive him to say something so mean to me?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE!!!

Yep, that's right! Wheel Of Fortune!

It's just the two of us, so we never eat dinner sitting at the kitchen table. In fact, I think we stopped doing that years and years ago when the kids stopped showing up for dinner. We enjoy just taking our plates and plunking down on the couch and chatting and eating our dinner. More often than not, we end up eating at 6:30 p.m. which is Wheel of Fortune time.

Irv keeps telling me that he is signing me up to go on the show. I just laugh at him. Anyone can sit in the comfort of their living room and solve puzzles. No stage lights, no audience, no competition, no Vanna or Pat....sure it's easy then. I would never, ever go on a game show! I just wrote the other day about being shy and not liking people to even look at me. Like I said, it is something I would never do nor would I have a desire to do even if I wasn't a bit shy.

What caused him to tell me to go to my room was when I asked yet again....why in heavens name does Wheel of Fortune make the other two contestants clap and cheer for their opponent when they take their turn? I think that is truly the dumbest thing I have ever seen in my life. This is a GAME. It's a COMPETITION. You want to WIN. You want the other guy to LOSE. Why the hell are you cheering for them?

Irv told me that they are cheering to be nice and to keep it a friendly game show.

Is he kidding?

If I were on the show, when the other people spin the big old wheel I would be yelling, "Bankrupt, bankrupt, bankrupt"! Why would I yell, "Big money, big money"? It makes no sense at all! When they hit a bankrupt, I would let out a giant size, "Woo hoo!!!" I sure wouldn't feel bad for them. I WANT them to LOSE!

At about this point, Irv told me I was obnoxious! Then I told him I was going to blog about it and he said that all of the people that comment are going to say that they use to like me, but now they see what a b----- I really am, and they don't like me any more.

The final straw for him was when I said, "Okay, here is a fine example. Could you see the Cubs, when the other team is at bat, CHEERING for them to hit a friggin' home run? I can just see the Cubs sitting on the bench in their dug out, clapping and cheering and yelling, for the other team..... come on big hit, big hit! Come on, hit it out of the park buddy! You can do it!"

That's when he told me to go to my room!

Honey.....can I come out now?

Hey!

You are so right about that! I would cheer too if they hit bankrupt. We are all bitches from time to time and have to be sent to our rooms. :)

I can't stop laughing. Since when is Dad so nice?? You know inside these people are laughing when the other contestants get Bankrupt. Dad would be too.

LOL! You are so funny -- I love this story! I watch Jeopardy most nights but I don't stay to watch Wheel of Fortune afterwards.

You are so right about yelling "Bankrupt" or "Lose a turn" ...lol..all competitors are thinking hat!

Have you ever wondered what "Wheel of Misfortune" would be like?

Oh my gosh! I am still laughing. I have to agree with Irv, they are doing it to keep the game friendly. I'm the person that roots for both teams in sports....on the other hand...don't play a board game with me. I'm a sore loser and an in your face winner!

I'm with you! To that end, I'm a huge American Idol fan and can not for the life of me understand why the constestant who is voted off is asked to sing again. I've got a special version of that final song in mind, wanna hear?! ;)

I'm a BIG sore loser, so I make it a point NOT to lose.

Funny story! Though it sounds like going to your 'room' wouldn't be such a bad thing!

hahaha that is just a riot! i never thought about it like that though! about them cheering for their opponent - but you are absolutely right! i guess like your hubby said - its out of politeness. i watch wheel of fortune almost nightly too. i usually dont cheer for them all, i usually find one that annoys me and wish wouldnt win! lol

He, he, I can relate to that - being sent to my room, I mean:):) I think aloud about these types of things too. The whole game show circuit seems to be quite hypocritical. Of course nothing beats us watching wrestling when we were kids and actually believing that it was all real:):)

haha! I really love this story. Especially because my husband and I watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune in front of the TV together while we eat dinner. And he beats me in Jeopardy, I beat him in Wheel of Fortune. It's become crazy competitive. We could never go onto the show... because we are the crazy screaming over wheel of fortune, haha when the other person guesses wrong and gives away the puzzle kind of people! LOVE your blog!

I'd give them the evil eye and flip them off while they took their turn. That is the only logical way to treat fellow contestants on Wheel of Fortune.

And when they hit bankrupt or guessed a wrong letter I'd yell "In your FACE!" right in their face. Then I'd knock them over.

I'd kick them while they're down and dance on their corpses.

Not really, I'd be too polite to do all that. But I would picture it in my head as I clapped and cheered them on.

Oh my gosh....hahahahaha....hiLARious! You are lucky to have such a sweet man in your life...but geezo man, is he kidding???

You'd be at WOF to bust the butts of those other LOSers, come on! It's the name of the game...can you spell W-I-N-N-I-N-G???

Thanks for makin' me laugh MY butt off! (Oh...reminds me of that bizarre commercial during the Superbowl!)
