The clean out has begun. After our tree cutting trip yesterday, Irv headed for the garage. In our garage is quite a collection of.....junk! A little bit of this and a little bit of that, saved over many, many years and before you know it, you have no room for a car. So, Irv worked in the garage yesterday afternoon and made great progress.
I opened the drawers to my file cabinet and peeked inside. It's the small two-drawer type, but it was so jam packed with stuff from previous years that I had not disposed of that I haven't been able to file anything for months. Instead it got shoved on the shelf above my computer. One file at a time....I went through and saved what needed to be saved and tossed what needed to be tossed. Some could be recycled and some needed to be shredded. I got through the top drawer. Today I will do the bottom drawer and then go through all of the stuff I haven't filed yet. UGH!
I also plan to hit my closet and the closet in our spare bedroom. I have so many clothes in those two closets that I haven't worn in years....and it is going...straight to the resale shop in town! Once those things are done I will be feel so much "lighter"! Then I can just start going through things here and there and donating or tossing.
It is going to feel SOOOO good!!

I love dejunking! Hubby teeters close to hoarding, but over the past year he has had to deal with clearing out his grandparents' home and all their clutter and I think he is seeing the light!
Have fun!
Awesome! I should do the same thing. You will feel so much better and you might find things you've been missing for years!
ooh...that sounds so good- I should do the same!
OMG--I'm getting excited over here! That being said, my husband wobbles back and forth over the line of hoarding--can't stand to throw anything away.
On the other hand--I'm the tosser. I go through the house every 6 months or so and start tossing things to go in the Samaritan House Boxes.
Woohoooooo!
I don't like the clearing out process, but I do enjoy the end result.
The thing I hate about the dejunking is that it sprirals out of control. Once you start cleaning one spot, it laps over onto another spot and pretty soon you're overwhelmed! Thank goodness for Thrift Stores to donate stuff to. It eases the conscience in getting rid of things.
I guess I still have turkey on the brain, I thought your title was The Turducken Has Begun! ha ha
I hate cleaning more than anything! I wish I had a maid!
My garage...you an barely fit a person in there, forget a car. Living in CA, we have no basement, no attic, so the garage is the only place to store stuff. And we've even dejunked LOL.
I love cleaning when I finally get in the mood. My poor DH looks at my desk with all the paper & jewelry...not to mention the dust that accumulates...and just shakes his head. Hope the second drawer proved fruitful!
Yes! It feels good. I cleaned closets today too!
Hope you have a great week.
xo
Purging feels awesome, doesn't it? LOVE that feeling.
