Eye See

Okay, so I hate to spend money if I really don't have to. I need new contacts. My last pair is the pits. I've been wearing them wayyyyyyyy longer than I should be. Do you do that? I know they are meant to be worn a couple of weeks and then tossed, and yes I know you can get nasty eye infections if you wear them too long....but I always have, everyone I know does the same thing and no one....not even one person has ever gotten an eye infection from doing it.

So, my contacts are worn out and I need new ones really bad. The issue is that we are getting vision insurance at work on September 1st. At that time I can get my exam for about $10 and get my contacts for almost free.

If I go to my regular guy now, it's going to cost me $85 for the exam and whatever for the contacts. Do you see where I'm going here? It's just a mere 6 weeks and I could be in nice new contacts for almost nothing.

The flip side is that the glasses I have now are only for distance so I'm not wearing anything during the day at work. I can see my computer just fine, however I seem to be getting an awful lot of headaches that start late morning......I'm thinking it could be related. What do you think?

I have put a great deal of thought into this......and I guess I don't mind having a massive headache every single day and all evening long and into the night when it finally goes away. Hey it's saving me money and hey I'm just kidding! HAHA! I'm calling the eye doctor today for an appointment to get new contacts.

I figure when I have the insurance I will go again and use it to get new glasses. Mine are pretty useless since I really need bifocals and if I'm going to wear them then they also need to be the transitions lenses. Insurance won't cover it all, but a good portion. Then I'll be good for a whole year. I'll be able to see and I won't have a headache every day.

Sometimes I am just so smart that my intelligence even surprises me! :)

I haven't gotten contacts yet but I do use two different glasses and I get headaches if I switch to the stronger prescription for too long. It stinks but your health > moola

I do the same thing - try to make my contacts last as long as possible. However, be very careful with that. Both my son and my oldest grandson have both gotten eye infections from wearing their contacts too long.

I see your point about the new insurance, but yea...6 weeks is too long to wait. I'd hate spending the money too, but I guess it's better to see, huh? lol!

Glad to hear you aren't putting it off, you don't need the headaches. Don't want you walking into walls by the afternoon now do we!

Excellent idea to get new contacts and take care of those headaches... And good plan to use your insurance later to get new glasses. Hope you are doing well otherwise! Love, Silke

I am totally cheap and would probably go blind waiting for the insurance LOL!

Oh and if you are close to Molly's, you HAVE to go have a cupcake! I told Aubrey how close the shop was to Molly's and the first thing he said was: "I wonder if she could mail us some cupcakes." hee hee

I bet I walked right by that shop and didn't even see it!

Maybe you can make it till Sept. I need to have my eyes re-examined too as I now see better without my glasses than with. I am too stubborn to wear them except when driving tho.
