Talk about having a lot to learn.....I am reading and reading and reading. It is a lot of work. It's more than just buying some old things and throwing them in your shop. You have to take good pictures, give good descriptions and make sure that you are not overpricing your items or even worse UNDER pricing them. That is one of the hardest things for me. Here are a few of things I did list this week.
I have a couple of things sitting here that I can't list, because I can't price them. One is an old wood working plane. I can't find another one anywhere exactly like it. Some of the planes I see for sale are pretty cheap and others are pretty expensive. I will keep looking until I know that I am pricing it right.
The other thing is an old glass washboard. There are lots of them for sale...some really cheap and some not so cheap. I can only find one like mine for sale anywhere and it pretty expensive. That leads me to believe that this one isn't as common as others and is probably worth more.
Then there is the very old china. I listed a cup and saucer in my shop and really wasn't sure about the price. I couldn't find the pattern anywhere. It seems to be older than everything I see on line by that company. So, I'm waiting to list any more of it until I have a better idea on what it is worth. Here it is. It's so pretty.
See, it's a lot of work....but it's fun work....and now I have to get back to it. I hope you are all well. I will be seeing Tresa on Sunday. I'll take pictures. We are down to about 35 days until baby boy's due date. I am so excited!

Isn't it fun to have fun? There are lots of books and magazines out there about vintage items, so you've got lots of places to go for help and ideas. Enjoy yourself!
Okay, ignore the question I just asked in my "convo" to you-- I see the answer here in your post...
It is fun isn't it? I actually really enjoy reading the books and I take them with me when I go out looking- not actually in the shop but I keep them in my car for reference.
I have one of those glass washboards hanging in my wash room, (of all places), and we paid 5$ for it at a yard sale like 15 years ago. There can't be that many out there with them being glass. Can there? The one I have was well used.
Glad you're having fun with your new store. I'm afraid I'd end up in the"underpricing" category if I tried this so I really admire you for researching and figuring it all out.
35 days an counting for you on the baby!! Yeah.

Congratulations! May your venture be successful and bring you joy.
You have some fun stuff. I really like that pattern of the cup and saucer. I've never seen it before.
Have a fun weekend!
